Andreas Meyer was born in 1921 in Germany. He emigrated to Israel with his parents in 1937 at the age of 16. He was multi-talented in welding, sculpture and eventually hand-crafted art glass. He pioneered the development of fused art glass, whereby colors are masterfully “fused” between layers of glass.

IN 1967 Andreas Meyer opened a factory that employed dozens of artisans at its peak and produced what came to be known as “Nahariya Glass.”  He lived a long, productive life and died in 2016 at the age of 95.

Yigal Meyer, the artist’s son, now oversees Andreas Meyer Ltd., which ranks as the largest, oldest and most experienced glass company in Israel. The factory has relocated to Tefen, one of four unique industrial park concepts in Israel that links industry with the arts and promotes creativity in all its forms. Tefen houses an open museum that exhibits temporary exhibitions of Israeli artists, a permanent exhibit depicting the history of the German immigration, a sculpture garden containing sculptures of numerous styles, and an exhibit dedicated to the development of Israeli industry.
