Collection: Mezuzot & Mezuzahs

One of the oldest traditions in Judaism is the display of a mezuzah on the right doorpost of a Jewish home or building, as well as on the doorframes of certain inside rooms. The mezuzah is a box or case, inside of which is a parchment scroll with verses from the Torah inscribed on it, including the Shema prayer (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, 11:13-21). The concept of a mezuzah comes from the Torah, where we read, “And you shall inscribe them on the doorposts (mezuzot) of your house and on your gates” (Deuteronomy 6:9, 11:20).

The case that holds the scroll can be decorated in a variety of ways. It often has a Hebrew letter shin representing the first letter of Shaddai, one of the names given to God in the Hebrew Bible.

The mezuzah case has evolved from a humble box to an art form, inspiring a myriad of designs, medium and materials.

Our shop carries Kosher parchments for your mezuzah case. We carry a nice sampling of styles for both outdoor and indoor mezuzot. Most of our mezuzot are crafted in Israel.  We can also offer 'Personal Shopper' services for special item orders.
